About the Artist

About the Artist: VL Parker
Albert Einstein once said, “Art is standing with one hand extended into the universe and one hand extended into the world, allowing ourselves to be a conduit for passing energy.” As a Spirit-Led Artist, Author, and Poet, I, VL Parker, embody this
philosophy by engaging in the transforming power of creative expression as a spiritual practice. Through meditation, breath-work, and the harmonious blend of music and nature exploring, vision and dreams, I strive to be a conduit of passing energy. This art form draws me closer to the Creator, creation, and my ancestors. This approach to creativity empowers me to express myself authentically, lending itself to holistic healing and ultimate freedom. I love to share both my art and this practice with the world, hoping that they too experience the beauty and transformative power of Spirit Led Art.
Heritage and Inspiration
Living in Treaty 7 as a First Nation’s woman, I honour my Native heritage and Celtic ancestry through my art. My work is a testament to healing from personal and generational trauma, often showcasing the heaviness, strength and resilience through my mediums and the choice vibrant colours It is a celebration of resilience and the cycle of life. It acknowledges pain and triumph, depicted through powerful symbols and sacred stories of my people and the generations who came before. Ultimately I create whatever the Spirit leads me to , opens my eyes to see or co-creates with me.
Artistic Expression and Philosophy
My abstract art, infused with spiritual themes, captivates viewers as it invites them on a journey of symbolic and surreal contemplation. With vivid colors and fluidity, my creations weave abstract images into a breathtaking tapestry of unity. I admire the earth’s remarkable ability to heal amidst chaos and depict this through my art, aligning with themes of resilience and renewal. As an artist, I believe in the Creator’s essence within all things, emphasizing our duty to protect the earth for future generations.
Creative Process and Workshops
I aspire to ignite the creative spark within others by sharing my art and spiritual practice with the world, fostering a profound connection with oneself, the Creator, and all of creation. Through my workshops and public engagements, I aim to inspire others to explore their creative potential and experience the divine residing within us all. I believe that God is the creator of all things, and He fashioned us in His own image and likeness. When we create alongside God, we encounter the Divine, allowing His Great Spirit to flow through us.
More About VL
As an Ojibwe-Celtic, Christian Creative, I am proud to call Alberta my home. I cherish my First Nation and Irish heritage and hope to honor my ancestors in all my endeavors. This Alberta artist always seeks to honor the Creator through co-creation with Him. I enjoy taking the whispers of the Spirit into my soul and unveiling them through various creative expressions, engaging in a co-creative process with the Creator. I guide others in the practice of tapping into the subconscious divine through their own imagination.
Vision and Mission
My creative works often reflect the triumph of light over darkness, focusing on hope, healing, and connection to the Divine and the world around us. In both my writing and visual art, I engage in Spirit-led creation. Regardless of the medium, be it acrylic, oil, watercolor, or resin, my process begins by inviting the Great Spirit to co-create with me. Whether writing or painting, I resonate with Maya Angelou’s words: “We come from the Creator with creativity. I think that each one of us is born with creativity.”
Artistic Legacy
Believing that we are all meant to create, I echo Albert Einstein’s sentiment: regarding art, I would add, “It is no wonder that great art transcends time.” Through my art, I aim to leave a legacy that honors the Creator, my ancestors, and the world, inviting others to join me on this journey of spiritual and artistic exploration.

Sometimes VL is inspired by a vision, a dream or a photo, such as one of her daughter, where VL was inspired to capture, Jessica’s Beauty, as seen below. Other times the artist will draw or paint a conceptual piece and then create it. The artist in her abstract, random nature, will also sit down and pray, and paint with her Creator, to music, in worship, after smudging, to a lit candle or incense, or after meditation.

About the Author

“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.” Oscar Wilde
I agree with Mr. Wilde. Still, I hope that I capture an essence of my subjects, but perhaps it is merely how I see them, and thus you see a part of me.

” Color is a power which directly influences the soul. ” Wassily Kandinsky

” I have often painted works with colors of passion, of light and of darkness, but I love when I am motivated to use a pallet of electric energy and life. My favorite works are when there is a fusion, when they meet on the canvas. When complete, the painting has a power all of its own.” VL Parker

Dragon Beauty is a special piece of Allegorical Art drawing from the artist’s Celtic heritage and a friend’s heritage. It was inspired by a friend who was born in the year of the dragon. The red dragon symbolism is associated with Celtic leaders, it symbolizes their right to power. VL was inspired to celebrate her friend’s, strength and beauty. The Dragon in Asia is not only a powerful sign to be born under, but a fortunate one. This piece is a fusion between the two cultures.
Photography
VL believes that our Creator is the greatest artist of all, and thus loves to capture the works of his hands through Photograpy. She often paints inspired from the photos she has taken, but appreciates a photo of a subject, in their most realistic natural state.
“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” – Karl Lagerfeld –” VL agrees with Karl and also with Burk Uzzle who said,” Photography is a love affair with life.”
VL would add. ” It is a love for God’s creation and seeing the fingerprints of God everywhere arround you and his essence in everyone and everything. Connecting with the Spirit of Creation helps you become one with him and one with his universe. This artistic medium also can help us beome one with eachother and catch a glimpse through the eyes of God with the eye of a camera.
I am just a novice hobby photographer, but I love to capture that special fleeting moment, before it’s gone.”
